The 2024 Presidential Elections: Of Age, Nelson Mandela Advice, and Election Predictions.
America’s 2024 Presidential Elections have somehow been “Africanized" by increasingly geriatric presidential candidates who wish to hold on to power.
The villagizing effect of radio, television and the internet is such that no matter where you are, these media are ever ready to spill the world’s beans. All its goings-on are at your fingertips. Just where I like them.
And by the looks of it, news in 2024 is going to be dominated by presidential elections.
According to Koh Ewe,
2024 is not just an election year. It’s perhaps the election year. Globally, more voters than ever in history will head to the polls as at least 64 countries (plus the European Union)—representing a combined population of about 49% of the people in the world—are meant to hold national elections, the results of which, for many, will prove consequential for years to come.
Of all those elections, the one I, and undoubtedly the world will be watching keenly is the USA’s presidential elections. And thanks to our wired societies, anyone can have a front-row seat to the goings on in distant America.
Glory, glory, glory. Interesting times await.
Of course, the thrill of watching Big Brother do his democracy thing for once aside, “when the US sneezes, the World catches a cold.” Such is America’s importance in the village, whatever happens politically, economically, and socially in that corner of the world often impacts the globe.
This is what is worrying me, going into these 2024 US presidential elections.
2. “Africanization” of the US 2024 Presidential Election
Pitting arch-rivals incumbent 80-year Joe Biden (D) and 78-year-old Donald Trump (R), my mind is boggled.
Not that I am an ageist or anything. Actually, I kinda like old folk. But not in a million years did I ever think I would see the year. Worst of all, post-AI 2024, when the presidential elections of one of the most powerful and seemingly “progressive” countries on the planet would resemble an African presidential race!
Until now, I had thought it only characteristic of African presidential elections to have geriatric presidential candidates. Former presidents who come to mind are Nelson Mandela of South Africa who ran in 1994 aged 76. Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria, he ran in 2015 and 2019 aged 72 and then 76. Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe infamously ran in that country’s 2008 and 2013 presidential elections aged 84 and 89 respectively. Then who can forget Hastings Kamuzu Banda who ran in 1994 aged 88.
Sadly, there have been and continue to be other geriatric presidential candidates on the African continent.
However, the former presidents might perhaps argue that they had been disadvantaged by colonization, and so self-actualized late. Or that due to colonization the youth of their country were not as educated and as experienced as they were at the time. Presidents Biden and Trump hardly can put forward the same arguments.
But just how did America get to this in American elections?
3. Oldest Person to run for US Presidential Election.
By all appearances, it seems the door to geriatric US presidential candidates “running” for office (LOL) opened when Senator Bernie Sanders bid for the Democrat’s Presidential nomination vote back in 2016 aged 74. Then, when that bid failed, he tried again in 2020 at age 78!
On his first quest for the presidential nomination, Senator Sanders was also joined by fellow senior citizen and then realtor-cum-tycoon TV personality, Donald Trump. Aged 70 at the time, now former President Trump would become the 45th President of the United States.
When in 2020 then sitting President Trump ran for re-election at the age of 74, he went “toe-to-toe” against the man who currently holds the title of Oldest Person to run for US President, Joe Biden. Biden would go on to famously win against the younger Trump and be elected as the 46th President of the United States in 2020. Aged 77 years, eight months, and 17 days.
Fast forward four years later to 2024, and it looks most likely that both President Biden and former President Trump are going to headline the 2024 Presidential Election once again.
President Biden clocks 81 years this election year, while former President Trump is pushing for 78 years old. If either of them wins a second term, they will be 85 and 82, respectively.
Given the ages and lacklustre presidential records of both men, their seeking re-election isn’t funny anymore. If either of them is elected, lives and economies globally are at stake. It’s time someone advised these old-timers.
And how better to do so than to channel the late former geriatric presidents Nelson Mandela (1918-2013, Robert Mugabe (1924-2019) and Hastings Kamuzu Banda (1906-1997).
4. Former Geriatric Presidents’ Presidential Election Advice to Biden, and Trump
First president up,
Nelson R. Mandela:
With all due respect Pres. Biden. Mano a mano, as your administration nears the end of its term, please consider this. You have been a public servant since the 1970s. That’s over 40 years.
Reminiscent of my first five years as president, you have served your first term well, don’t ruin its achievements with a second term. Rather, as I did after my first term in office, ideally, you should now also retire.
Life is short.
Your joints must be killing you! I know mine did, until I discovered this HERE.
I strongly recommend it for joint pain and repair. It did wonders for me after the rigors of Robben Island.
Enjoy what’s left of it with the family.
In the spirit of reconciliation, ask former President Trump to take you and the missus on a tour of his many golf courses. Play a few rounds with him and see who wins. Wouldn’t that be fun?!!
Sure, some of the American people (your age) might be on your side, routing you on, but age is not.
As I did when I handed over the reins to Thabo Mbeki back in 1997. Leave all this electioneering to the younger generation, man. The 2024 US Presidential elections are your ideal opportunity for you to pass on the baton stick to your running mate-as funny as that sounds-Kamala Harris.

Robert G. Mugabe:
I must agree with Nelson on that one Comrade Joe. Grooming a female successor, as I did Joice Mujuru and then not handing over power to her when the time came to do so will forever be one of my biggest regrets.
From what I have seen and heard; Kamal Harris has a good head on her shoulders. She has already made history as the first female, Black, and South Asian-American 49th Vice President of the US.
And as the current Vice President, with you out of the way Joe, Cde Kamala can easily be a strong contender for the 2024 presidential elections and easily beat former President Trump.
[Former Pres: Trump enters]
Speaking of which, Pres. Trump welcome. A word of warning. Take it from me, I know how it is having a young wife and family. Believe me, it’s the worst thing a sitting president can do to himself and his country. Before you know it, they will be “helping” you run the country…. almost to the ground.
Aside from that, a young, energetic wife has her demands and needs. You know what I mean, wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Fortunately for me, I got tons of help from this HERE.
The Asian emperors have known about for over 4000 years, it comes highly recommended. Try it!

Hastings K. Banda:
I couldn’t agree with you more Bob.
Of course, I used this HERE to regain some power and take charge.
Otherwise, before you know it, you are under petticoat government and decisions you can’t remember making are of your making.
What the….!!!
Age surely ain’t just a number guys, it’s a painful reality. Your body, mind and memories slowly start going South…. together with everything else.
Though with that THERE, Bob’s indeed ya uncle!
If only I had known back then, what I know now, I would advise them to set….
5. The Presidential Age Limit to 65: Presidential Election Advice to Future Democratic and Republican Presidential Candidates
· Kamala Harris
At 60 as of October this year, the 2024 Presidential US Election is, in my view, the current Vice President’s last opportunity to run for office as the president of the United States of America. This is especially true if, assuming we set the ideal presidential age of retirement at 65-the average age universally.
That would mean VP Harris will be ineligible to run for office in 2028. Doing so would only make her just another geriatric wannabe president. This would only serve to perpetuate the current situation in which geriatrics are blocking the path to president for those who are ripe and ready for the position.
Ripe and ready presidential candidates like….
· Cory Anthony Booker (D-NJ, 2013-present)
In 2019, Senator Cory Antony Booker presented himself to the Democratic Party as its candidate for the presidential nomination. He later suspended his nomination campaign in January 2020.
At 55 this year, it appears Senator Booker is a classic case of, “once beaten, twice shy”. He has not thrown his hat in the ring for nomination. But then, considering that the Dems are backing Biden and Harris, perhaps it’s just as well.
However, from where I am sitting, what would have been strategically electrifying for the Dems for the 2024 Presidential Election would have been to retire Biden and field Booker as Harris’ running mate.
Equally ripe and ready, is …
· Raphael G Warnock (D-G, 2022-present)
An age mate of Booker’s, Rev. Warnock would make the former’s ideal running mate come 2028. Senator Warnock is further proof of the additional presidential potential the Dems have available.
Other Dems to watch are Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. At just 35 years of age, AOC as she is affectionately known, is youthful and progressive. With proper political grooming, AOC is a possible Kamala Harris of the future and more.
That’s not to say the Republicans have no one in their arsenal. On the contrary. They too have…
· Ron DeSantis
Currently, governor of Florida, DeSantis availed himself for his party’s 2024 presidential party nomination. Unfortunately, former President Trump’s resilient popularity seems to have spooked him. He withdrew his candidacy on January 21st, 2024.
However, at only 46 years of age, DeSantis still has a lot of political mileage.
There’s also….
· Nikki Haley
Born Nimarata Nikki Haley, Haley has timeously availed herself for the Republicans’ 2024 presidential primaries. Despite being only 52 years old in 2024, she has a lot of political experience. In the vein of Harris, Haley is the first Indian American to serve in a presidential cabinet. She has also served as the 116th governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017 and as the 29th United States ambassador to the United Nations from January 2017 to December 2018.
Unfortunately, she is famously on record for not knowing the causes of the American Civil War and denying America’s history of systemic racism. To her credit, despite all odds, Haley has tenacious continued to fight Former Pres. Trump in the Republican Party’s presidential primaries.
· Tim Eugene Scott (R-SC, 2013-present)
Having initially availed himself for the Republican Party’s presidential primaries, on Friday 19 January, Senator Tim Scott withdrew his candidature and endorsed former President Donald Trump instead. Sadly, at age 58, this was possibly his last opportunity for presidential candidature. Unless he too would like to become a near-geriatric presidential candidate in 2028. Or, it could be Scott's strategy to become Donald Trump’s running mate.
Other than the three above, there are other possible Republican presidential hopefuls like…
· Kelly Lynn Loeffler
Georgia’s former Senator, and her erstwhile Senior Senator. At 53 years, Kelly Lynn Loeffler can arguably be counted among the Republican party’s hopefuls. However, considering that she lost her Senate seat to the Democrats’ Raphael Warnock.
But then maybe it's early days. Only time will tell.
Predictions for the 2024 Presidential Elections
So, the 2024 US presidential elections are around the corner. The political landscape is already heating up.
And, what’s my 2024 US election prediction?
While it's still early, there are already some predictions for the 2024 presidential elections based on current trends and potential candidates.
Like you dear reader, I am eagerly watching to see and hear what’s going to happen next.
But as I see things, former presidential candidates like Tim Scott have already made their moves to strategize for the upcoming race. He seems to be trying to ride into the White House as Pres. Donald Trump's running mate.
As for who will emerge as the leader, it will be a geriatric president.
Probably in need of something LIKE THIS HERE.
